I can’t remember exactly how I came across Froindlichst. I can only remember that I already recommended it before I went there for the first time. Crazy. Fortunately, it turns out that it is actually highly recommended.

Today I finally introduce you to this vegan restaurant with several locations in Hamburg and so far one in Berlin. By the way, I am reporting here about the restaurant in Berlin Prenzlauer Berg.

Froindlichst Eingang
About Froindlichst

The restaurant is rustic and yet very stylish. It goes more into the industrial style with lots of wood and metal elements. The majority of the lamps are rod-wound cords with bulbs of various sizes.

Walls are mostly white, with some featuring brick accent walls or colorful, graphic patterns.

Froindlichst Glashaus
In addition to the tables with thick wooden tops and swivel chairs made of wood and metal, there is also a cozy sofa corner to chill out. A highlight is the “glass house” in the center of the restaurant. A small room framed by walls of black metal and glass with a green moss back wall (see photo).

Incidentally, the Froindlichst was founded in Hamburg in 2015 and came to Berlin in 2021. The restaurant was busy when we last visited. It was a mild summer evening so most people sat outside. But the Froindlichst Berlin also has plenty of space inside. It consists of several rooms and is therefore also well suited for celebrations or larger meetings with friends and family.

Eating and drinking at Froindlichst

The menu at Froindlichst primarily offers dishes that everyone likes. It’s not too big and fits on two A4 pages, but it’s still very versatile.

Froindlichst Vorspeisenteller Mix-it mit zwei Soßen
Starters

There is a lot to discover even with the appetizers and snacks. Turkish mezze to share, nachos with cheeze gratin, pizza bread and aioli, tomato mozzi and mix-it to name just a few. You can see the latter in large in the picture. It consists of sweet potato fries, potato dipper fries, vegan nuggets and onion rings. Quite mighty and therefore better recommended as a starter to share and less as a main course.

Main courses

Here you can find almost everything that most people like to eat. Mac’n’Cheese – the casserole made of macaroni and cheese, which is particularly popular in the USA -, burrito, burgers, pizza and bowls.

Froindlichst Stadtaffe Burger
For burgers, you can choose seitan-based “beef” and “chicken” patties, as well as a red lentil patty. I chose the Stadtaffe Burger, which has pulled jackfruit as the main component. As sides to each burger you can choose between salad, fries and sweet potato fries. Of course there is also a sauce to choose. I took the Smoky Chili Mayo. With the “Upgrades” you will find not only extra patties, cheese or vegan bacon but also a gluten-free bun.

Froindlichst Pizza
The pizza selection is also very good. In this category you will also find two dishes for children. The pizza is called “My Little Lovely” and there is a children’s menu consisting of fries, vegan nuggets and ketchup. In the picture you can see the Mozzi Pizza. It is made with tomato sauce, mozzi cheeze, semi-dried tomatoes, basil, pine nuts and Italian herbs. It looks delicious, doesn’t it?

If you want it healthier, you should choose one of the bowls. They have funny names like Señor Bowlo, Elli Spirelli and Billy Ibowl. They all have wild lettuce and other veggies as ingredients. Depending on the bowl, there are also pulled jackfruit or sweet potato fries, for example. Salad with a few extras, so to say.

Desserts

Unfortunately we didn’t make it to the desserts. But I know that there are a variety of cakes that are homemade. From the lemon cake to the brownie to the gluten-free avo chocolate cake. Definitely try it next time you visit!

Froindlichst Specials

The lunch deal is available from Monday to Friday 12 noon to 3 p.m. Every week they offer a classic from each category at the best price (9.90 – 10.90 euros).

Froindlichst Brettina Frühstück
Weekend Breakfast. Saturday and Sunday you can have breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You get a lot on offer from fresh pancakes, to home cooking à la sandwich, to a hearty English breakfast. If you want a little bit of everything, I recommend ordering “Brettina”. Two kinds of sandwiches, rice edamame salad, mini mac’n’cheeze and mini pancakes. It’s available for one or two people. In the photo you can see what it looks like. Kindly provided by Maria Tech.

Flying Buffet. Everything for everyone is the motto here. From 8 people you can eat your way through the assortment: Pizza, burgers, burritos and snacks are served in small bites. For € 22.90 per person.

Conclusion

Here everyone can enjoy their favorite dish and all it’s vegan. The service is very friendly and happy to give you advice. And it was insanely quick despite the many guests. The same also applies to the kitchen. The prices are calculated fairly. We’d love to come back.
