Karlshorst eats fairly: save food and eat delicious! The Berlin Nutrition Strategy invites you to do this on November 5th at the Karlshorster weekly market. Discuss your nutritional strategy while enjoying a delicious waffle.
A big problem that we have to deal with is the current food waste. To counteract this, the Berlin Nutrition Strategy comes to the Karlshorster weekly market on Friday, November 5th, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The format is called “Waffles for Visions“.
What is needed for a resource-saving nutrition strategy? What can be done together at the local level and what is still missing? Over the waffle eating, they would like to learn your needs and exchange visions with you. Meanwhile, the Berlin Consumer Center provides information on the subject of food waste. In Germany alone, around 12 million tons are disposed of in food production, retail, gastronomy and in our private households every year – although these are actually still edible.
In order to counteract this waste of resources, the Lichtenberg District Office is promoting measures such as the “Fairteiler” in the iKARUS district center, which has been in place since July. This distribution station offers simple and ecologically fair access to free food and also promotes voluntary participation by citizens. Together, the Berlin food turnaround should be taken further, because this is the only way we can accelerate the change towards a regional, healthy and fair food system at the local level.
