A week earlier there is the Berlin Hummus Festival 2022, on the first weekend in September the Berlin Chili Fest 2022 is taking place.
What can you expect at the Berlin Chili Fest 2022?
Join for a day of all things chili and craft beer! Taste some of the best new hot sauces in Europe (and beyond), eat some delicious food, enjoy craft beer and cocktails, listen to live music, watch freak fire performers and have a chilled-out spicy weekend with lovely people at the amazing Berliner Berg Brewery complex near Treptower Park.
After the success of four previous festivals, this year’s Berlin Chili Festival will be held over two days and will not only crown a local hot sauce champion but also include the launch of a much-anticipated new brew. The Berlin Chili Festival will be held on September 3rd and 4th at the Berliner Berg Brewery (Treptower Str. 39) with booths from over 20 hot sauce vendors as well as a special booth featuring fresh chilis.
Entertainment on the festival’s main stage will include live music, comedy, a burlesque freak fire show and a spicy chili wings eating competition. The Chili Festival will also offer plenty of activities for the non-chili-heads including giant bar games, a craft beer garden, food trucks, a BBQ area and cocktails.
Berliner Berg will launch its much-anticipated Chili Stout during this year’s event.
The vote for the best homemade sauce
This year’s fest will again crown Berlin’s Best Homemade Hot Sauce – last year’s competition saw nearly 30 entries, among them sauces made of chocolate, coffee & Carolina Reaper chilis. To enter, competitors just need to bring their homemade sauce to on Saturday. Judges will narrow the field to 10 before the audience picks a winner on Sunday.
What else is there?
There will also be a give-away of over 20,000 chili seeds for the “Berlin Superhot Chili Project”. With every purchased margarita, you will get a pack of chili seeds for aspiring chili growers. The idea is to buy a drink in a biodegradable cup – once finished, you bring the cup back and fill it with soil and chili seeds. You will receive all the instructions for germination, and hereby help creating a waste free environment.
The chili fest is a child-friendly event, and the venue has a playground to keep them entertained. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome.
